Rosa Park

When Rosa Parks was living she was know as one of the "first lady rights activist" and she still is known for that today. In Dec 1,1995 she was arrested for not giving up her seat for a white passenger and later on in life she was an icon in the Civil Rights movement, but she suffered the hardships as a result. Later on in life she kept on doing good things in her life time. In 1957 her husband Raymond and Rosa left Montgomery so that Rosa can go find a job for herself. In 1965 Rosa was hired as a secretary and she was excellent at it until she retired in 1988. In 1970, that's when things started to go bad for Rosa because he family started getting illnesses and her husband and herself started to get stomach aches. The saddest part was that in Aug 19,1977 her husband died because of  throat cancer. And later on she robbed and struck in the face, and when the robber was caught he was sentenced 8-15 years of life in prison. And traveling further Rosa died in Oct 24,2005 because of natural causes, but now she is still remembered in my life time for being one of the best women in life and to me she is right next to Maya Angelou.

This reminds me of a movie that was based on her life story and it is a good movie because it show every little detail that is in the movie.

Jesse Owens

When Jesse Owens was a little boy he grew up and stared to get jobs as a grocery store deliverer, loading freight trains, and a shoe repair person, but then he started to know that he always liked to run and he started to become a successful athlete throughout his career. With encouragement his junior he was running and doing all these good things. Later on in life Jesse started to do great things like winning gold medals in races and he even has his own stadium that is in Ohio. In a museum he started to restore his life with pictures and other things of him to make himself come back to life with his pictures and stuff in the museum. Also, when he was he was in high school he met a girl named Minnie Ruth Solomon and they started dating all the way through high and had their first child in 1932 and her name was Gloria, then they got married in 1935 and later on Minnie gave birth to 2 more daughters Marlene(1939) and Beverly(1940), but they remained married until his tragic death. Jesse died because of lung cancer, but he is somewhat still remembered till this day.

This reminds me of my self because I run track and i want to grow up and become somewhat just like Jesse, but when he was little he was known as J.C.

Martin Luther King Jr Favorite Quote

This story is about how MLK faced segregation throughout his whole life, how he gave one of the best speeches in the whole world and how he was awarded the Noble Peace Prize. When Martin was a little boy he would face racism and segregation until he had enough of it and decided to stop it at once. So when Martin was a grown man he started to do protests and later on he was successful at the bus boycott because of the incident of Rosa Parks when she wouldn't give her seat up on the bus. Then on another day he lead a protest which was We Shall Over Come protest and there were lots and lots of people who were in this, but then Martin got arrested. In Oct 14,1964 Martin was given the Nobel Peace Prize for standing up to segregation through out his whole life. Also, he did a speech for non-violence because of all the violence that was happening around the country. And last, but not least he gave the most incredible speech that influenced everyone life.

My favorite quote was when Martin said that we shall over come our fears instead of running away from them and so that we can all come together as one whole united group.

Surviving My Mom's Battle With Caner Favorite Quote

This story is about a young man named Ralph Crespo who helps his mom survive breast cancer. When he was 12 years old his mom was diagnosed with breast cancer this was one of the most terrible times for him in this year. His dad came home and talked to his mom and they hugged it out and later on she got the cancer surgically removed. Whenever Ralph's sister asked him what was wrong with his mom he would never answer because it would cause more stress so instead he just played house with her to make her feel better. Later on in life Ralph joined a group at school called the Sparks and they helped other kids with difficult situations or stuff like that. And then later on in the year Ralph's mom starts to heal up from the surgery and now they are living a good mom and son life together.

My favorite quote in the story was when Ralph said that he would never give up on his mom and that he will try his best to make her get better.

Confessions Of A Gym-Class Dropout Author Purpose

This book is about how a boy named Travis Underwood was the weakest boy at school and how he built up to become stronger than the other kids i the school. This starts off when Travis was at school in gym class and his gym teacher was being tough on the kids, but he was mostly tough on Travis. So, when it was Travis turn to do a pull-up he only got to 6, but this boy named Rocco who is stronger than all the other kids especially Travis was doing 26 pull-ups and when he got done he would always rub his success in Travis face so Travis thought that he should get stronger to beat Rocco and rub his success in his face. So, that's when he asked his dad if he drive him to the YMCA and the membership was $200 his dad said "That seems like a lot of money" and Travis said that he would do all the chores around the house so they had a deal. When Travis went to the gym he met an instructor who helped and trained him and weeks after Travis started to get stronger and stronger, but on some days he wanted to quit and the instructor told him to never give up so Travis never did and for weeks and weeks he started to get stronger and stronger and the next day he was ready for the pull-ups. So, on the next day Travis was on the pull-up bar going rapid on it and he beat Rocco's score, but Rocco came back and beat his, but the coach congratulated Travis on his work!!

I think the authors purpose is to tell us that we should always try our best at what we do. And that we should never quit on anything NEVER!

Jackie Robinson MAKE CONNECTIONS

This story is about how Jackie Robinson became a famous baseball player and how he overcame racial acts in his lifetime. When Jackie was a young boy he didn't know much, but he was in a gang until he knew what he wanted to do with his life. So he started to hit the books and he began to go to school and do what he needed to do to become a professional baseball player. Over the years he started to get into the game and do what he did, but that was until the racial actions came he was called the "n" word and all other stuff and people started to say that he does not belong here at his games. Overall he was starting to get the fans come to his side after all the years he was treated like dirt. And after all of this still today he is the best baseball player of all time.
RIP JACKIE ROBINSON
Jan 31,1919-Oct 24,1972

This reminds me of the movie 42 because it was based on a true story about Jackie Robinson and it showed in eyes how he was treated back when he was playing baseball. Also, it shows how he was the best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be in NBL history.

After all of this Ana told the court that Paco did it and Paco said "Of all the people in the gang, your'e the last person I thought would betray me and after all of this happended Ana felt better about herelf.

I think the authors purpose is to never get in a gang beacus eit can lead you to dangerous things in life and it can get you nowhere in life.

I WAS A VIOLENT SKINHEAD MAKE CONNECTIONS

This story tells about how a boy named Frank Meeink was 13 and got into a fight with his stepfather and he couldnt control his anger so his mother sent him to his father to stay with him and his dad. His dad and his dad's wife were never around it seemed to him that no one cared about him so in the summer he went ot go and stay with his aunt and he shared a room with his cousin and his cousin was a skinhead.

Elaine Zhang is about a woman who had a great life in China, but all of tat changed when her and her mom and dad moved to the United States. When Elaine was in China her and her mom were very close they went shopping  together  and they talked about boys and school together and in China her mom loved her alot, but all that changed when they moved to the United States. In the United States there wasn't much money, Elaine's father had no job and her mother worked at a supermarket. When is was night time Elaine's mother would always come home unhappy. When Elaine would be watching tv or reading and sometimes on the phone with her mom and her mom would yell and get mad at her. Elaine would wonder what she did wrong and she would cry and ask herself " Are you my mom?" and Elaine would also say "I don't feel like I am your child anymore."When Elaine was 13 that is when they left China and they settled in Oakland, California. When Elaine first came she was made fun of and called names, but then Elaine would be able to speak better English and she would start to make American friends.

Amigo Brothers- Discuss Favorite Qutoes

My favorite quote was when the referee was in the middle of the ring waiting for Antonio and Felix. Then the referee was in arm and arm, the two champions had already left the ring.
